And thus concludes *cough* 9 days ago *cough* the end of NaNoWriMo. If you don't know what that is, NaNoWriMo, stands for National Novel Writing Month. It's pretty much a competition to write a 50k word novel in the month of November (30 days). It's quite a stressful month as a student, with schoolwork and dealing with family, and writing a whole novel.
In the two years that I've done NaNoWriMo, I've failed. I have, however written more words than I have this year than last year, so that is a plus. This year was different in general. I had more time to be able to write. Well, not more time, but more chances to be able to write, so that really helped me to be able to get more words. Plus, it was an excuse to be away from my family and do something that I love. Writing. I did some things differently this time round. I actually started planning what I was going to do. I didn't put it in very strictly, so I could still have my pantsing side be able to roam free, and honestly just not feel so constricted. However, I only planned to almost the middle of the book, and when I got to that part, I was having difficulty in trying to think of what to write by that time, and I believe that it was like a week straight where I wrote under 300 words, so I ended up getting really behind those days. Also, something unlike last year was that by the end of the month, I knew that I had no chance to win, yet I still continued to write. I was determined to actually finish it. Last year, when I was that far behind, I just gave up those last few days. I had no motivation to keep writing in those last days. I honestly just gave up. This year though, I didn't give up. I actually didn't so I am just really proud of myself for that. Overall, even though I didn't "win", I did however grow and improve from last year. I do have an unfinished novel that I'm quite proud of as of right now, which is something that I wouldn't have been able to say last year. Again, I'm so thankful that I was able to participate in NaNoWriMo. Even though it's soooo stressful, it is also soooo worth it! I get to meet and talk to some amazing people, while also writing and competing against them. I will definitely be doing this again next year!
