As part of being on the release team for Anna Rose's book, Across All Borders, I was able to sit down and have an interview with none other than the author!! 1. When did you begin writing and why? That's always a bit of a hard question for me to answer! I don't have a concrete memory of the first story I wrote, or anything like that. I know from what my family tells me and from my own memories that I have always been a bit of a storyteller. I would make up characters to be my imaginary friends and present original puppet shows to my family. I was in fourth or fifth grade when I really started to take writing seriously, but I was still far from where even where I am today. 2. What inspired you to become a writer? As cheesy as it sounds, I have to say I think it started with school assignments. I have several different ones that stick out in my mind, but they all go back to short stories that I continued working on outside of class. Apart than that, the other big factor would be being inspired by the books I read. 3. What's the biggest challenge that you've had to face and overcome as a writer/author? I might say my health and my insecurities, both of which I continue to battle today. 4. What was your first thought about being an actual published author? Likely something along the lines of surprise, or even disbelief. I still sometimes have a hard time believing it's an actual reality, instead of just some dream or goal in my mind. 5. Do you incorporate your faith in your writing, and if so, how? Yes, absolutely! Sometimes, like in most of the poems in Across All Borders, it's more subtle, in underlying themes and ideas, but it also comes out in certain conversations or reflections, such as one poem at the end of the book, in which the narrator says, "I believe in miracles and in God's perfect timing." In most of my other stories, at least one of the characters is a Christian, and faith is one of the themes that is generally reflected through that. 6. How do you motivate yourself to continue writing? I try to get myself excited. I write about topics that are important to me, so I attempt to keep that in mind while I write. When I'm writing the difficult or particularly heavy parts, I often have to stop and ask God to help me remember my why. 7. If your younger self could see you publishing your second book, what would she say? I have no idea, honestly. I may have called you crazy, asking why you would tell me that, or I might just be surprised. Thank you again to Anna Grace for letting me be able to sit down and interview her. I'm quite happy that I had the chance to do this!!
